You have access to more vanity editing tools, like red-eye fix, burn, blemish, clone, and patch.Ī notable benefit of Affinity Photo is the nondestructive auto-saving, so you never have to worry about losing your work.Īffinity Photo is a great editing software if you’re interested in the capabilities of Photoshop, but not the pricetag. There’s certainly no shortage of photo apps out there, but how do you know which ones are best? In this post, we break down the best photo editing apps for Mac. It is highly advanced. If you are a blogger, a photographer, or just enjoy taking photos, then you have probably dabbled in the world of photo editing. But people who are able to handle the huge learning curve, they seem to love it. I can't really vouch for it - I once tried it, and it was impossible for me to figure out, as it is completely different from Photoshop, so I gave up on it. GIMP is available for MacOS (also Windows, GNU/Linux). So that's what I use it for, as this particular function is pretty easy to figure out. What it is extremely handy for, is doing minute rotations by degrees (it shows vertical and horizontal guidelines to straighten out the image accurately), and cropping. This does not work like Photoshop, so it has a bit of a learning curve. POLARR is available for MacOS (also Windows, Linux, Android, iOS). It is also compatible with a number of other image editing programs, such as GIMP and SKETCH. Photopea is compatible with Adobe Photoshop - it can both read and create PSD files. (I personally find it too complex compared to Pixlr, but then I am just an amateur user). This works like a highly advanced version of Photoshop, so it is much better for professionals. They say it can also work offline (not sure what that means). They also offer a background remover, which I haven't used yet. Pixlr E is the more advanced edition (this is the one I use every day!). It comes in two flavours: Pixlr X is for fun and simple uses (like to jazz up an image for social media). This is my favourite image editor of all time, as it's incredibly easy to use, and works just like Photoshop! But I don't think it is fully compatible with Photoshop (it uses proprietary files that are not PSD, it's called PXZ).
